TouchSensor Technologies, Named Atmel maXTouch Touchscreen Integration Collaborator

Feb. 15, 2011 WHEATON, IL: TouchSensor Technologies, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) and a global leader in providing touch-sensitive user-interfaces, has been named as an Atmel® maXTouch™ touchscreen integration collaborator by Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a leader in microcontroller and touch solutions.

Since 1997, TouchSensor Technologies has designed and manufactured millions of touch user-interfaces for discrete key applications. Now, after an exhaustive evaluation of the available touchscreen technologies in the marketplace, TouchSensor has selected Atmel’s maXTouch technology as its platform for next generation touchscreen solutions for the medical, commercial, automotive, industrial, and appliance markets.

“Given the massive demand for touchscreen solutions beyond consumer electronics, the collaboration with Atmel enables TouchSensor to provide our customers with the best touchscreen technology and also expand our business across several markets,” said Bob Campbell, TouchSensor’s General Manager. “The markets we serve desire the same touchscreen performance consumers experience with their mobile phones, tablets, and netbooks. Our customers are looking to us to create touchscreens that have consumer electronics performance, combined with the ability to operate without degradation when used with the thicker fascia materials required for harsh commercial and industrial applications.”

“We are pleased to enter into this technical collaboration with TouchSensor,” said Jon Kiachian, senior touch marketing director, Atmel Corporation. “This collaboration will give us a vehicle to better serve the growing demand for the Atmel maXTouch solution, across diverse markets.”
